Job Specification

The Process Manager is responsible for driving end‑to‑end process performance across the solar cell manufacturing line. This role ensures high‑yield, stable, safe, and cost‑efficient production by optimizing processes such as texturing, BSG & Polishing, RCA & Polishing, diffusion, PECVD, metallization, laser patterning, cell testing, and classification. The position requires strong expertise in TOPCON solar cell processes, cross‑functional coordination, and continuous improvement.

Qualification/ Personal Attributes

  • B.E./B.Tech in Engineering with Electronics/Chemical/Material Science/Mechanical
  • 10–12 years of experience in solar cell manufacturing or semiconductor process technology.
  • Strong understandings of cell technologies: PERC, TOPcon, HJT(optional)
  • Good leadership, communication, and multitasking skills.

Technical Skills:

  • Expertise in process tools: diffusion furnace, PECVD, screen printers, PVD, laser machines, firing furnaces.
  • Knowledge of SPC, DOE, Minitab, FMEA, RCA, 8D problem solving.
  • Understanding of wafer defects, cell failure modes, EL/PL imaging, IVL testing.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities

A. Process Control & Optimization

  • Own daily process KPIs: cell efficiency, yield, throughput, scrap rate, machine OEE, and process stability.
  • Optimize key solar cell manufacturing processes—e.g.,
    • Texturing / Saw Damage Removal
    • BSG & Polishing removal process
    • RCA & Polishing Process
    • Diffusion / PSG Removal
    • PECVD coating
    • Metallization (screen printing)
    • Laser edge isolation / patterning
  • Establish SPC/DOE frameworks and drive parameter optimization.
  • Reduce process variability through structured analysis (FMEA, 8D, RCA).

B. Production Support

  • Provide real-time support for process deviations and machine instability.
  • Lead troubleshooting for efficiency drops, defect spikes, wafer breakage, and yield loss.
  • Closely work with Equipment, Maintenance, and QA teams to ensure uninterrupted production.

C. New Technology Introduction

  • Lead process setup for new cell technologies (PERC / TOPCon / HJT / IBC).
  • Validate new equipment, tools, recipes, and materials.
  • Oversee process qualification (IQ/OQ/PQ).
  • Drive pilot runs and mass-production ramp-up.

D. Quality & Compliance

  • Ensure adherence to quality standards such as ISO 9001 / ISO 14001 / OHSAS 18001.
  • Monitor inline and offline test results, yield maps, EL images, and IVL curves.
  • Define and maintain process documentation: WI, SOPs, control plans, PFMEA.

E. Continuous Improvement

  • Drive Lean, Six Sigma initiatives to improve yield, efficiency, cost/wafer, and throughput.
  • Identify opportunities to reduce consumables and energy consumption.
  • Implement automation upgrades and digital process monitoring.
