Job Purpose:
To support the Methods Engineering team in improving manufacturing efficiency through optimized layouts, process planning, automation, and documentation. The GET will work closely with cross-functional teams in an electronics manufacturing environment to drive continuous improvement and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and optimize production layouts using AutoCAD for SMT lines, manual assembly, and testing stations, ensuring efficient material flow and ergonomics.
- Support the design and deployment of jigs, fixtures, and workstation setups for mechanical assemblies in electronics products.
- Develop and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Work Instructions (WIs), and Checklists for production processes.
- Assist in creating small automation tools/scripts using Excel VBA, Python, or Power Query for process reporting, data logging, and productivity tracking.
- Perform time and motion studies, cycle time analysis, and line balancing for various production lines.
- Participate in the implementation of Lean Manufacturing tools such as 5S, Kaizen, Poka-Yoke, and SMED.
- Support New Product Introductions (NPI) through layout changes, process mapping, and trial coordination.
- Track and analyze OEE, downtime, and yield across equipment like pick-and-place machines, ovens, or test stations in collaboration with process engineers.
Key Skills Required:
- Proficiency in AutoCAD for plant and workstation layout planning.
- Basic programming/automation knowledge in Python, Excel VBA, Auto-cad or similar tools.
- Strong understanding of industrial engineering principles, especially in process design and productivity improvement.
- Familiarity with electronics manufacturing environments and production processes (preferred).
- Exposure to Lean Manufacturing, 5S, and continuous improvement practices.
- Good documentation skills and proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Strong interpersonal skills and a hands-on approach to problem-solving.
Qualifications:
- B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical/Electronics or Industrial Engineering from a recognized university.
- 0–1 year of experience (internships or academic projects in manufacturing/electronics industry preferred).
