Job Description: Senior Engineer – Electrical & Electronics (Component Engineering)

Position Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Engineer – Electrical & Electronics for Component Engineering. The role involves selection, validation, testing, and lifecycle management of electronic components, ensuring reliability, quality, and compliance with industry standards. The candidate will support product development, manufacturing, and failure analysis activities.


Key Responsibilities

Component Engineering & Selection

  • Evaluate, select, and approve electronic components (resistors, capacitors, ICs, connectors, relays, etc.)
  • Review datasheets and ensure components meet design and application requirements
  • Manage alternate sourcing and component obsolescence strategies

Testing & Validation

  • Develop and execute validation plans for components
  • Analyze electrical performance and reliability testing results

Documentation & Compliance

  • Create and maintain:
    • Component specifications
    • Test SOPs and validation procedures
    • Qualification reports and technical documents
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards (RoHS, REACH, IEC, ISO, etc.)

Failure Analysis & Reliability

  • Conduct root cause analysis (RCA) for component failures
  • Drive corrective and preventive actions (CAPA)
  • Work with suppliers for failure investigation and improvements

Cross-functional Coordination

  • Collaborate with R&D, design, manufacturing, quality, and procurement teams
  • Support BOM review, cost optimization, and design improvements
  • Coordinate with IT teams for data dashboards and component databases

Lifecycle Management

  • Monitor component lifecycle (active, obsolete)
  • Develop mitigation plans for obsolescence and supply risks
  • Maintain AVL (Approved Vendor List)

Required Skills

  • Strong knowledge of electrical and electronic components
  • Experience in ATE systems, testing, and validation processes
  • Ability to read and interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, and block diagrams
  • Proficiency in failure analysis and reliability engineering
  • Knowledge of quality standards and regulatory compliance
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with Power Electronics / Embedded Systems
  • Familiarity with ERP, PLM systems, and data analysis tools (Excel, Power BI)
  • Knowledge of Lean, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement methodologies

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree/diploma in Electrical / Electronics Engineering

Experience

  • 5–10+ years of relevant experience in component engineering / electronics testing / validation
