Qualification/ Personal Attributes

Education:

  • B.E. / B. Tech / Diploma in Mechanical /Production/ Industrial Engineering.
  • Certification in Energy Management, Boiler Operation, or Utility Systems (preferred).

Experience:

  • 10–15 years in utility maintenance roles in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience in battery, automotive, chemical, or process industries preferred.

Skills:

  • Proficiency in CMMS/SAP systems for maintenance planning.
  • Good understanding of safety, statutory, and environmental regulations.

 

Job Description

1. Utility Operations Management

  • Oversee the operation and maintenance of utility systems including:
    • Compressors and compressed air systems
    • Chillers and HVAC systems
    • Boilers and thermic fluid heaters
    • Water treatment and effluent treatment plants (WTP/ETP/STP)
    • DG sets and electrical substations
  • Ensure 24x7 availability of utilities to support production.

2. Preventive & Predictive Maintenance

  • Develop and implement preventive maintenance schedules for all utility equipment.
  • Use condition monitoring tools (vibration analysis, thermography, etc.) for predictive maintenance.
  • Minimize breakdowns and improve equipment uptime.

3. Energy Management

  • Monitor and optimize energy consumption across utilities.
  • Implement energy-saving initiatives and track ROI.
  • Prepare monthly energy reports and participate in energy audits.

4. Project Execution & Infrastructure Upgrades

  • Plan and execute utility expansion or modification projects.
  • Coordinate with vendors, contractors, and consultants for timely project completion.

5. Compliance & Documentation

  • Ensure compliance with statutory norms (Boiler Act, Pollution Control Board, Electrical Inspectorate, etc.).
  • Maintain documentation for audits (ISO 14001, ISO 45001, IATF 16949, etc.).

6. Team Management & Training

  • Lead a team of utility engineers, technicians, and operators.
  • Conduct skill development and safety training programs.
