Job Purpose
The Deputy Manager – Electrical is responsible for safe, reliable, and uninterrupted operation of electrical systems supporting solar cell manufacturing operations. The role focuses on execution excellence, statutory compliance, high availability of power to critical utilities and process equipment, and effective support to maintenance and expansion projects within the plant.
Key Responsibilities
1. Electrical Operations & Reliability

Operate and maintain HT/LT electrical distribution systems, including substations, transformers, RMUs, PCC/MCC panels, ACB/VCB/SF6 switchgear, bus ducts, capacitor banks, and earthing systems.

Ensure uninterrupted power supply to solar cell manufacturing lines and critical utilities such as cleanrooms, chillers, AHUs/MAUs, compressors, vacuum systems, UPW, ETP/WWTP, and process equipment.

Manage and monitor UPS/IPS systems for critical tools, cleanroom controls, and IT/OT infrastructure, ensuring redundancy and periodic testing.

Oversee DG set operations, AMF/ATS panels, grid failure handling, load testing, and emergency power restoration.
2. Electrical Safety & Compliance

Implement and enforce electrical safety systems including PTW, LOTO, energized work procedures, arc-flash safety practices, and PPE compliance.

Ensure compliance with CEA Regulations, Indian Electricity Rules, IS/IEC standards, and internal EHS policies.

Maintain statutory and compliance records such as earth pit resistance measurements, relay and breaker test reports, thermography reports, and calibration logs.

Participate in electrical incident investigations, RCA, and implementation of corrective and preventive actions.

3. Maintenance & Asset Management

Execute Preventive, Predictive, and Breakdown Maintenance plans for all electrical assets.

Use condition monitoring tools such as IR thermography, insulation resistance testing, relay injection testing, and power quality analyzers.

Maintain accurate Single Line Diagrams (SLDs), SOPs, work instructions, and maintenance documentation through CMMS.

Support spare parts planning and inventory control for critical electrical equipment to minimize downtime.
4. Projects & Expansion Support

Support electrical scope of plant expansion, debottlenecking, and improvement projects, including new feeders, panels, cable laying, and equipment installations.

Review electrical drawings and support design activities such as load calculations, cable sizing, protection coordination, and earthing layouts.

Coordinate with EPC contractors and vendors during installation, testing, commissioning, and handover, ensuring safety and quality compliance.
5. Energy Management & Power Quality

Monitor power factor, voltage profile, harmonics, and maximum demand to ensure stable power quality for sensitive manufacturing equipment.

Support implementation of energy efficiency initiatives, including PF improvement, VFD deployment, efficient lighting, and optimization of electrical loads.

Assist in energy data analysis to reduce operating costs and improve plant energy performance.
6. Team & Cross-Functional Coordination

Lead and guide shift engineers and technicians, ensuring adherence to SOPs, safety rules, and maintenance standards.

Coordinate closely with Production, Process, Facilities, EHS, and Quality teams for maintenance planning and shutdown activities.

Support skill development and on-the-job training for electrical maintenance staff.

Qualifications

B.E./B.Tech in Electrical Engineering (Mandatory)

Relevant electrical safety certifications will be an added advantage
Experience

8–12 years of experience in electrical maintenance and utilities in solar cell manufacturing, semiconductor, electronics, pharmaceutical, chemical, or continuous process industries.

Hands-on experience with HT/LT electrical systems, UPS, DG sets, and critical power infrastructure.
Technical Skills & Knowledge

HT/LT distribution and protection systems

UPS, DG, AMF/ATS systems

Electrical safety systems and statutory compliance

SCADA / BMS / CMMS exposure (preferred)

Electrical documentation, SLDs, and drawings

Basic understanding of energy management and power quality
