Job Purpose:

To lead and manage the tool and mold maintenance function, ensuring optimal performance, reliability, and longevity of tooling assets used in battery manufacturing processes. This role is critical to maintaining production efficiency, product quality, and safety standards.


Key Responsibilities:

Strategic & Operational Management

  • Develop and implement preventive and predictive maintenance schedules for tools and molds.
  • Ensure timely repair, refurbishment, and replacement of molds and tooling components.
  • Monitor tool/mold performance metrics and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Collaborate with production and engineering teams to resolve tooling-related issues.

Technical Oversight

  • Supervise tool room operations including mold storage, servicing, and calibration.
  • Provide technical guidance on mold design improvements and modifications.
  • Maintain detailed records of tool/mold history, service logs, and performance data.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards and internal quality protocols.

Team Leadership

  • Lead and mentor a team of toolmakers, technicians, and maintenance staff.
  • Conduct training programs to enhance team skills in mold handling and maintenance.
  • Allocate resources effectively to meet maintenance schedules and production demands.

Safety & Compliance

  • Ensure all tool/mold maintenance activities adhere to safety, health, and environmental regulations.
  • Conduct regular audits and inspections to identify and mitigate risks.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe tool room environment.

Budget & Inventory Management

  • Manage budgets for tool/mold maintenance, spare parts, and consumables.
  • Optimize inventory levels of critical spares and inserts to avoid production downtime.
  • Evaluate and recommend investments in new tooling technologies and equipment.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree/Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or Tool Engineering.
  • 8–12 years of experience in tool/mold maintenance, preferably in battery or automotive manufacturing.
  • Strong knowledge of mold design, CAD/CAM, CNC programming, and maintenance systems.
  • Experience with TPM, Lean Manufacturing, and Six Sigma methodologies is a plus.
